The plot indicates that he's in an induced coma due to injuries. As someone who was put into an induced coma for 72 hours due to medical trauma, I can say this is the most ridiculous scene I've witnessed. The patient would always be in the ICU hooked up to an unbelievable amount of medical equipment. And if he's dead already, then the scene is just simply gross.
